Welcoming Art Historian Sonia Halpern back to our studio this winter, we look forward to exploring the history of criminal and deviant behaviour among artists. Historically, artists have often lived unconventional lives that have included encounters with the law, either as perpetrators or victims. Since people have always been fascinated with the private lives of artists, their associations with criminal or “deviant” behaviours have contributed to their enduring legacies. By examining the involvement of select artists in cases of sexual misconduct, violent crimes, and addictions, this illustrated 6-week Lecture Series will explore how certain unfortunate events contributed to the fame and notoriety of some artists. We invite you to join us for this illuminating look at artists and their inner lives!
